The staff of the YES program works to develop strong trusting relationships with the children by listening, playing with, and paying attention to each child.

The community of Callaway used to gather around the school. All the kids in town knew each other and families knew each other. Upon the closing of Callaway School the community became separated due to families choosing other school districts. Currently Callaway is served by 3 different school districts. The YES program builds community! The children of Callaway have come to know each other again through the YES Network. "

“When I was first told about this job I thought I didn’t have the patience for kids but in the past 8 weeks I’ve proved myself wrong. Many kids don’t have a positive role model in their life and need some place to go during the summer. Even if they do have a positive role model they need a place where they can be a kid, where they could learn new things, games and meet new people. I watched these kids grow and turn into amazing individuals over these past few weeks and it was the most rewarding thing I could’ve ever experienced. I can’t wait to see this program grow and where it’ll take me next. “ 

"Something special about the yes network is that it not only changes the kids that attend, but it also changes the kids that attend, but it also changes those who work along with the kids. I have taken part of many internships and practicums that involve working with students; however the yes network program is the one experience that has really left an impact on me. Excitement is that spark. These kids have kindled a spark of excitement within me as a future educator; I absolutely cannot wait to see how the program furthers the kids and their growth, along with my own."
